Candle Care in Australia

Here are some tips to get the most out of your Carnation Candles dessert candle.

Candle Burn Time

Its important to let your candle melt all the way to the edge on the first burn. This ensures that your candle doesn't tunnel. To reach a full melt pool this can sometimes take 2 to 4 hours. Normal candles usually reach a full melt pool (wax melted to the edges) in about 2 hours. Mine may take a bit longer. The general rule is to never let your candle burn for more then 4 hours.

Trimming your wick

Before burning your candle, you have to ensure your wick is trimmed to the correct height. The best length is 1/4". Do this every time before you light it.

Candle Safety

Remember you are dealing with an open flame (fire). Safety is top priority. My most important tip is to never leave the candle unattended. Keep it where you can see it so you don't forget to blow it out. Even though i go through a thorough testing process i can't prevent accidents and carelessness. You also have to consider that in rare instances that the jar may break while burning or the wick is manufactured wrongly (out of my control), so you need to be prepared for this too.

Kids, pets and candles don't mix, so keep it out of reach.

Keep the candle away from all objects especially curtains, paper and all things that can catch fire.

Always leave about a centimeter of wax at the bottom of your candle. Never burn right to the end.

Final Thoughts...

Who knew that candles could be so temperamental! Before i started making my own candles i just thought you light it and enjoy the smell. There is so much more to being a responsible candle buyer. So, in saying that there is a few more things that i wanted to cover in this subject too. I want you to get the most out of your candle. Don't leave your candle in the draft of an air-con or a window. It will cause it to burn unevenly.

Don't let it sit in the heat or direct sunlight. It will melt.

Frosting on the jar is NORMAL and occurs in all-natural soy wax. This does not affect the quality or burn.
